The assortment of species that the planet Earth so tenderly carries is without a doubt the best thing that has occurred to it. Things would be much better if people did not interfere with their survival, but this is an ongoing problem that will continue for some time. Nonetheless, it’s realistic to argue that life would be a lot duller without animals, since seeing their adorable faces on our feed can brighten our entire day or even week.
People nowadays raise their eyebrows when someone claims they don’t own a pet, or even worse, that they are completely opposed to getting one. Dogs and cats have taken the role of children in many households and have proven to be excellent companions for individuals who do not wish to have children. When you can’t have a pet for one reason or another, the internet comes to your rescue and fulfills your cute-animal “cravings” admirably. We decided to put up a gallery of the prettiest possum and opossum photographs to brighten your day.

Many people confuse possums and opossums, believing they are the same animal. This is not the case, as the creatures dwell in different countries. Possums are native to Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea, New Zealand, and China, while opossums are native to North and South America. Possums are the lucky ones since they are more closely related to kangaroos than kangaroos, despite the fact that they are both marsupials (not that it really interferes with their cuteness).
Furthermore, the name “opossum” is derived from the Powhatan language, which was used by the Virginia Algonquian tribe and means “white dog or dog-like beast” in essence. Later on, a British botanist felt possums looked a lot like opossums, which is why they were given the same name.
