Brent Cizek, a wildlife photographer from Minnesota, took a cute picture of a mommy duck and her baby ducks. He saw more than 50 little ducks following her, and later, he counted over 75 of them! It was a fantastic moment that he managed to capture in his photograph.
If there were an award for best duck mother, a Common Merganser mother duck in Bemidji, Minnesota, would win. She cares for her ducklings by swimming and walking around with them. This duck is amazing!
Brent Cizek, a 32-year-old photographer from the local area, recently took a cute picture of a mother duck and her more than 50 adorable ducklings. He shared the stunning image on his Instagram and Twitter pages. The Audubon Society, a group of people who care about birds and their habitats, noticed the picture, and many more people in the Bemidii area started seeing the large group of quacking ducks. Cizek told the Audubon Society that he had seen a mother duck with about 20 ducklings before but never anything like this.
In a few months later Cizek spotted a huge crowd at the beach again. This time, they were taking a break before getting back into the water.
A mother duck can hatch up to 20 eggs at a time, although having 50 ducklings is relatively uncommon. It seems more likely that the mother duck in the pictures became a surrogate parent to these lost baby ducks who imprinted on her. While having many ducklings is impressive, it’s important to remember that there are limits to what one mother duck can handle.
