As girls grow up, they may fantasize about being a princess and having a perfect fairytale wedding. Recently, a lucky girl named Sthuthi David had a dream proposal from her boyfriend, Lee Loechler, that was romantic and creative (and a little nerdy). It was so impressive that Sthuthi was now on her way to her dream wedding! Get ready to be wowed by their amazing love story.
Lee asked his girlfriend Sthuthi to marry him in a movie theater after working for six months to create an animated version of themselves in her favorite movie, “Sleeping Beauty.” In the scene, Prince Lee proposes to Princess Sthuthi.
Lee proposed to his high school sweetheart, and she said yes! The video of the proposal has gone viral on the internet with over 1.1 million views.

Lee’s girlfriend was perplexed when she noticed that one of the scenes had changed.
Lee, a filmmaker, shared with Bored Panda an idea he had suggested to a friend a few years ago. Lee’s friend was planning to propose to his then-girlfriend, and Lee suggested that he could recreate a scene from her favorite movie and have his on-screen character throw the engagement ring to him in real life. Although his friend didn’t use the idea, Lee found it fun and magical, which suited his filmmaking skills. He decided to keep the idea for future use.
Lee got down on one knee and proposed
When I proposed to Sthuthi, I wanted to make it special. However, I realized her favorite movie was animated, and I didn’t know much about animation. I only knew how to use After Effects. So, I watched Sleeping Beauty and noticed the important scene was mostly still. That gave me an idea. I searched for Disney artists on Instagram, and that’s when I found Kayla. Her work was amazing, and I knew she could help me create something special for Sthuthi.
Sthuthi was overjoyed when she learned the movie theater was packed with her friends and family
Lee wanted to surprise Sthuthi at the movie theater, so he had her friends and family come early and sit in the back few rows. They turned off all the extra lights so she wouldn’t recognize anyone. But the projector was still too bright, so they showed previews before the movie to dim the lights. When Sthuthi and Lee walked in, it was nice and dark.
With the help of illustrator Kayla Coombs, Lee changed a scene in the movie ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ In the original scene, Prince Phillip kissed Princess Aurora to wake her up. But in the changed version, Prince Lee takes out a ring and throws it to his girlfriend, Sthuthi, who catches it.
We don’t know how often Lee practiced, but he did a great job. Sthuthi is a lucky girl! Last year was the 60th anniversary of the movie’s release, but did you know it wasn’t a big success when it first came out in 1959? However, the movie was re-released many times and became popular over time.
People liked the movie’s colors, music, and charm, but some said it was too similar to ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ That’s because some parts of the story were initially ideas from ‘Snow White’ that were not used. For example, Maleficent captures Prince Phillip and escapes from her castle.
What do you think of Lee’s proposal? Are you jealous of Sthuthi (in a good way)? Do you have any romantic proposal ideas? Let us know in the comment.
