Anaka, a cute gorilla, recently celebrated her sixth birthday with the staff at the Atlanta Zoo. The event was quite important, and numerous staff members took pictures of the gorilla and posted them on Facebook. Needless to say, this enormous girl became famous for the most surprising incident. Many praised her, but a select handful had exceptionally keen eyes and picked out a fascinating detail.

Everyone had been observing that Anaka had a really distinctive patch of pigment on her palm that looks quite human-like. That makes sense, given that gorillas have opposable thumbs. It’s interesting to note that they, like all primates, have unique fingerprints and toeprints that can occasionally be utilized for identification. Primates don’t have claws like most animals we’re used to seeing; they have fingernails and toenails. They are employed for cleaning, opening, and scraping objects.

Some individuals believed Anaka had vitiligo, a chronic skin disorder marked by pigment-losing areas of skin. As Morena Lale noted, the zoo’s response to her inquiry was, “Well, her skin pigment has always been like that and hasn’t changed over the years, so we think it’s simply a cool birthmark.”
