At Hot Flav, we’ve seen some unexpected animal friendships before. There have been dogs, elephants, cats, foxes, and even giraffes and ostriches. But this trio of friends is unique – an American black bear, an African lion, and a Bengal tiger living together peacefully. It’s hard to top this extraordinary bond between unlikely pals.
BLT, made up of Baloo the bear, Leo the lion, and Shere Khan, the tiger, have been living together peacefully for the past 15 years at Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter in Georgia. The three animals were rescued in 2001 from a house in Atlanta during a police drug raid, where they were being kept in poor conditions in the basement. Baloo, who had an ingrowing harness that needed surgery, was also a victim of animal abuse. Despite being separated briefly during Baloo’s surgery, the trio has been inseparable and happy ever since.
