A baby elephant at Melbourne Zoo swam to beat the heat. Melbourne is experiencing a heatwave, and this little elephant is finding ways to stay cool. The elephant was born just one week ago and doesn’t have a name yet. Once the keepers saw that the baby elephant was stable on its feet, they decided to refill the pool in the elephant area for the calf to enjoy.

In the scorching city heat of 35°C, a baby elephant and his mom, Num-Oi, went for a paddle to stay cool. While Num-Oi had no trouble with the shallow water, her tiny son had a few problems and lost his footing, getting a full dunking.
Last week, the little elephant arrived after a 22-month pregnancy, and his birth was a four-day-long process for Num-Oi. Despite the long wait, the 131kg baby elephant was born safely and was on his feet in just a few minutes.
This adorable baby elephant is defying the record-breaking heatwave in Australia and has become a source of inspiration for many.

In this heartwarming story, we witness a baby elephant named Num-Oi and her natural motherly instincts. Despite being a first-time mother, Num-Oi is attentive to her calf and takes excellent care of it. In a photo captured by keepers, we see the calf trying to stand up for the first time, with its trunk outstretched for balance.
This special moment shows us the incredible bond between mother and baby elephant. We can learn a lot from animals and their parenting instincts. It’s fantastic to see the care and attention that Num-Oi gives to her calf.
